I'm not sure about you, but during the winter I just want to throw on all of my favorite things - at once. I want to wear the warmest scarf with the best wooly coat. My favorite socks with those boots that dress up every outfit. I also have to resist throwing on every last piece of jewelry that lifts my spirits above freezing.

a custom pair for a special event

I was contacted a short while ago by a customer who was looking for a pair of earrings to match with her fabulous outfit for a winter wedding that she'll be attending next week.

She gave me quite a bit to go on, showing me the dress (below) and the fabulous shoes (below).
I made a little inspiration board using her items and my thoughts of how she might look that night.

It didn't hurt that she is was amenable to my idea of incorporating various metals to bring out the copper, and I drew in bright sparkly baubles to really celebrate the season.

She is a really classic beauty of a girl - and when I think of her I imagine her in fine studs, so I made these earrings reflect that with a gold stud above the hand made hoop. I'm pleased with the earrings - a lovely blend of a party pair with a nod to classical styling (had to get two pearls in there, at least!)

About Town Bridal - Lindsay in VT

I clocked the sun setting today at 4:46 pm.

As the days become impossibly short I'm finding some solace in summer pictures - especially those of beautiful bridal parties.

Over the summer Lindsay entrusted me with one of the best wedding jewelry challenges yet and I've just received some photographic proof of the fantastic results.

Lindsay found the perfect bridesmaids dresses but wasn't so fond of a bow on the hip and quickly had them removed.
She wanted me to create something to adorn the space that coordinated with her wedding colors.

Together we came up with this idea for these brooches

in the most cheerful yellow with vintage rhinestones sewn throughout. I must have inherited some genealogical trait toward hand sewn bead work as I couldn't have been happier to sew in each piece just thinking of how it would make Lindsay's wedding day a bit more special.
